Rank tracking tools compared by cost per keyword
Rank tracking tools compared on price per tracked keyword, daily or weekly updates and seats: SE Ranking, AccuRanker, Wincher, SpyFu, Semrush, Ahrefs and more.
The right rank tracking tool depends on two numbers more than on any feature list: how many keywords you need to track, and whether you need them checked daily or weekly. Price per keyword varies by more than thirty times between the tools below, mostly because of that second choice.
Short answer: SE Ranking is the cheapest per keyword for daily tracking, Wincher is the cheapest way into daily tracking, SpyFu is absurdly cheap if weekly is enough, and AccuRanker is the specialist that agencies pay more for.
How we compared them
We looked at the entry plan of each tool: its price, how many keywords it tracks, how often they update, and how many people can log in. Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 4 October 2026, at monthly billing unless we say otherwise. Two vendors, Mangools and Nightwatch, showed euro prices on an annual plan, so we quote those as shown.
Every cost-per-keyword figure is our own arithmetic from those prices, not a vendor figure.

What a tracked keyword actually costs
Divide the entry price by the keywords it includes and the order changes.
| Tool, entry plan | Updates | Our arithmetic: per keyword per month |
|---|---|---|
| SpyFu Basic ($39, 5,000) | Weekly | under 1 cent |
| SE Ranking Core ($129, 2,000) | Daily | about 6.5 cents |
| Wincher Basic ($49, 500) | Daily | about 10 cents |
| AccuRanker Professional ($249, 2,000) | Daily | about 12.5 cents |
| Nightwatch Starter (€79 annual, 500) | Daily | about 16 euro cents |
| Ahrefs Lite ($129, 750) | Weekly on Lite | about 17 cents |
| Mangools Basic (€37.70 annual, 200) | Weekly | about 19 euro cents |
| Semrush SEO ($139, 500) | Daily | about 28 cents |
Two caveats. Semrush and Ahrefs bundle keyword research, backlinks and site audits into that price, so the comparison flatters the specialists. And per-keyword cost only matters once you use most of your allowance.
The tools
SE Ranking, cheapest per daily keyword
Core is $129 a month, or $103.20 a month billed annually, for 2,000 keywords tracked daily across 10 projects with one seat. Extra seats start at $16. Growth at $279 a month gives 5,000 keywords and three seats. The trial is 14 days with no card.
Best at: daily tracking at volume on a budget, with site audits included.
Limits: one seat on Core, so a team pays extra from day one.
AccuRanker, the specialist
Professional starts at $249 a month for 2,000 keywords, or $224 a month billed annually, with 3,000 and 5,000 keyword tiers above it. Every plan includes unlimited users. There is no free trial listed, but there is a 14 day refund policy.
Best at: teams and agencies that live in their rank data: daily updates, tagging, advanced filtering, Search Console and Analytics connections, and no per-seat charges.
Limits: it is a rank tracker and little else, so it sits on top of whatever SEO suite you already pay for.
Wincher, the cheapest daily entry
Basic is $49 a month for 500 keywords updated daily, up to 10 websites and one user, with five competitors per website. Standard at $89 adds multiple users, on-demand updates and share of voice. Wincher's page did not make clear whether its default view shows monthly or annual billing, so confirm at checkout.
Best at: a freelancer or small business tracking a few hundred terms every day.
Limits: one user and no on-demand refresh on Basic.
SpyFu, when weekly is enough
Basic is $39 a month, or $29 billed annually, and tracks 5,000 keywords weekly for one site with one user. Pro + AI is $59 for the first month and $119 after, for 15,000 weekly keywords across 10 projects. There is a 30 day money-back guarantee.
Best at: tracking a very long list cheaply. For most small sites, weekly data is all you will ever act on.
Limits: weekly only, and Basic has no historical data.
Semrush Position Tracking
The SEO plan is $139 a month, or $117.33 billed annually, and includes 500 keywords tracked daily across five websites, plus the rest of Semrush. Extra users start at $45 a month. A free account can track 10 keywords.
Best at: people who already need Semrush for research and want tracking in the same place.
Limits: expensive per keyword if tracking is all you use it for.
Ahrefs Rank Tracker
Lite is $129 a month with 750 tracked keywords on weekly updates, five projects and one user. Standard at $249 raises that to 2,000 keywords.
Best at: Ahrefs users who want positions next to backlink and content data.
Limits: weekly updates on Lite, and Ahrefs points people to its free tier rather than offering a trial.
Mangools SERPWatcher
Mangools bundles SERPWatcher with its keyword and backlink tools. Basic is €37.70 a month billed annually (€452.40 a year) and tracks 200 keywords with weekly updates; Agency at €97.70 a month billed annually tracks 1,500 daily. Monthly prices were not shown directly.
Best at: a solo marketer who wants a clean, simple interface.
Limits: small allowances, weekly updates below Agency, and no extra seats on Basic.
Nightwatch
Starter is €79 a month billed annually (€948 a year) for 500 keywords tracked daily across five websites, with five competitors per site. The trial is 14 days with no card.
Best at: tracking in any location or language, which suits local and international sites, with AI visibility tracking included on every plan.
Limits: euro pricing, and the comparison table does not show unlimited seats on Starter.
Google Search Console, free
Search Console shows the average position of your site for every query it recorded impressions for, with 16 months of history. It is real Google data, not a simulated search.
Best at: knowing your own positions for free, including queries you never thought to track.
Limits: averages blur daily movement, and it cannot show a competitor.
For local businesses, BrightLocal's Track plan is also worth a look: $41 a month, or $31 billed annually, includes a local rank tracker for up to 100 keywords and four competitors per location.
Daily or weekly
Pay for daily updates only when someone acts on daily changes: during a site migration, in the weeks after a large launch, or for a client who expects it. Everyone else is paying for noise. Weekly data shows the same trends, and the money saved buys more keywords, which is usually the better trade.
The competitor rank tracking guide covers which competitor keywords to pick and how to read the movements.
Figo, our own product, is not a rank tracker. It records competitors' Google positions once a week as part of a wider report on their ads, pages and reviews, and it should not replace any tool on this page if rankings are your main job.
Which rank tracker to choose
- Tight budget, daily data: Wincher Basic.
- Thousands of keywords, daily, cheaply: SE Ranking.
- Thousands of keywords, weekly is fine: SpyFu.
- You already pay for Semrush or Ahrefs: use what is included before buying a second tool.
- Rank data is your product, with many users: AccuRanker.
- Local businesses: BrightLocal or Nightwatch.
- No budget: Search Console.
Agencies have different needs, mainly seats, client access and branded reports, and those are compared in rank trackers for agencies. For the wider SEO platforms, see SEO competitor analysis tools.
Questions people ask
What is the cheapest rank tracker?
Among the daily trackers here, Wincher's Basic plan at $49 a month for 500 keywords has the lowest entry price, and SE Ranking is the cheapest per keyword. If weekly updates are enough, SpyFu Basic tracks 5,000 keywords for $39 a month. Search Console is free for your own site.
Do I need daily rank tracking?
Usually not. Rankings for most small sites move slowly, and weekly data shows the same trends with less noise. Daily updates matter during a migration, after a big launch, or when a client is paying to see them.
Why does a rank tracker show a different position from what I see in Google?
Your own searches are shaped by your location, device and history. Trackers check from a fixed location without your history, which is closer to what a new searcher in that place sees.
Is Google Search Console a rank tracker?
Partly. It reports your average position for each query across all the impressions it recorded, which is real data but not the single position a tracker records on a given day. It also shows nothing about competitors.
