The best Brand24 alternatives in 2026

Brand24 starts at $199 a month and watches what people say about you. Here is what else does social listening, what each one really costs, and when you need something different.

Brand24 is a social listening tool. You give it a name, a hashtag or a domain, and it tells you where that string is appearing across social, news, blogs, forums, podcasts and reviews, with a sentiment label attached.

It does that job well. The reason people look for alternatives is usually price, or the realisation that listening answers a different question than the one they had.

What Brand24 costs today

TierPrice
Entry$199 a month
Second tier$299 a month
Third tier$399 a month
Fourth tier$599 a month
EnterpriseFrom $1,499 a month

API access is an additional $149. Annual billing discounts the monthly figures.

That entry price is the sticking point for small teams. $199 a month to know when somebody mentions you is a lot when the mention volume is low, and mention volume is low for most businesses under a certain size.

Two different jobs

This is the distinction worth being clear about before you spend anything.

Listening watches what other people say. Mentions, sentiment, reach, share of voice in conversation. Brand24, Mention, Sprout Social, Meltwater.

Monitoring watches what a company does. New pages, new ads, price changes, new content, ranking movement, who AI recommends. Different tools entirely.

A lot of people buy a listening tool because they wanted to keep an eye on a competitor, then discover it reports that the competitor was mentioned 14 times this week without telling them the competitor launched a product page and started running ads on their brand name.

Both are legitimate. They are not substitutes.

Brand24$199/moBroad source coverage, good sentiment, AI summaries
BuzzSumo$199/moStronger on content and creators than on mentions
Sprout Social$199 per seat/moListening is an add-on, publishing suite is the main product

BuzzSumo at $199, $299, $499 and $999 a month is really a content research tool. If your question is which articles and creators are winning in a topic, it is stronger than Brand24. If your question is who mentioned us yesterday, it is weaker.

Sprout Social publishes $199, $299 and $399 per seat per month, with listening and premium analytics as paid add-ons on top. It makes sense when you are already using it to publish. It is expensive as a listening tool alone, and the per seat model adds up fast.

Google Alerts deserves a mention because so many people skip it out of snobbery. It is free, it catches news and blog mentions, and for a business getting five mentions a month it is honestly enough.

If what you actually wanted was competitor monitoring

Then none of the above is your tool, and it is worth naming that clearly rather than spending $199 to find out.

Competitor monitoring answers a different set of questions:

  • What pages did they publish this month?
  • Which ads are they running on Google, Meta and TikTok right now, and which ones did they just stop?
  • What did they start ranking for that we do not?
  • Did their pricing page change?
  • When a buyer asks ChatGPT for a recommendation in our category, do they get named and do we?

Brand24 answers none of those. Neither does BuzzSumo or Sprout.

Figo does those, and does not do listening. Starter is $49 a month for three competitors, Growth is $99 for eight, Agency is $249 for twenty across five client workspaces. A full check runs every week across rankings, pages, blog content, ads on three networks, social posts, reviews and AI answers, and you get a plain written briefing on Monday instead of a dashboard to interpret.

What Figo will not do for you: tell you when somebody complains about you on X, score sentiment, or handle a crisis comms workflow. If that is the job, buy a listening tool.

How to choose

Buy Brand24 if you have real mention volume, care about sentiment and reach, and need to catch things being said about you quickly. It is a good tool at a fair price for a company that size.

Buy BuzzSumo if the question is content and creators rather than mentions.

Start with Google Alerts if your mention volume is low and you are not sure yet. Upgrade when the free version starts missing things you needed.

Buy a monitoring tool if what you actually want is to know what your rivals are doing rather than what people are saying. Different question, different money, much lower price.

Questions people ask

What does Brand24 cost?

Five tiers read from their pricing page on 19 September 2026: $199, $299, $399 and $599 a month, with enterprise from $1,499. API access is a $149 add-on.

Is Brand24 a competitor research tool?

Not really. It is a listening tool. It tells you what is being said about a name, which is useful, but it does not show you a rival's ads, pages, rankings or product changes.

What is the cheapest way to track mentions?

Google Alerts plus a saved Reddit search costs nothing and catches a surprising amount. It misses most social and has no history, but as a starting point it is real.

Do I need listening and monitoring?

Many teams do, and they are different jobs. Listening watches conversation. Monitoring watches what a company does. Buying one and expecting the other is the usual mistake.
