Ahrefs pricing runs from $129 a month for Lite to $449 a month for Advanced, billed monthly, with Enterprise at $1,499 a month on an annual commitment. There is also a $29 Starter plan and a free tier for your own site. Extra users cost $40 to $100 a month each on top, and that is where most bills grow.

Prices below were read from ahrefs.com/pricing on 4 October 2026. The page showed monthly prices only, so every figure here is monthly billing unless it says otherwise.

Credits: the limit that shapes Lite

Lite gives each user 1,000 credits a month, and credits are spent as you run reports. Standard and above remove that cap. In practice Lite suits occasional research, not someone who lives in the tool all day.

Crawl credits for Site Audit are counted separately: 100,000 on Lite, 500,000 on Standard and 1.5 million on Advanced. Export rows are capped too, at 500,000 a month on Lite and 1.5 million on Standard.

Two features people expect on Lite are missing. Content Explorer and Batch Analysis start on Standard. If you research topics or check lists of domains in bulk, Standard at $249 is the real entry price.

What extra users cost

Lite, Standard and Advanced each include one user. Seats are bought on top, and each plan caps how many:

PlanExtra userMaximum extra
Lite$40 a month2
Standard$60 a month5
Advanced$80 a month10
Enterprise$100 a monthUnlimited

On our arithmetic, three people on Lite pay $209 a month, and three on Standard pay $369. A six person team cannot use Lite at all, because Lite stops at three seats.

The Ahrefs costs that are not on the plan card

Pay-as-you-go overage. Ahrefs sells optional pay-as-you-go usage that is billed automatically when you go over a limit, and extra users you have not prepaid are charged the same way. Prepaid pay-as-you-go credit lasts three billing months.

Add-ons. The pricing page lists Brand Radar AI from $199 a month, AI prompt packages at $50, $100 and $250 a month, Content Kit from $99, Report Builder at $99, and Project Boost at $20 or $200 a month per project.

Enterprise commitment. The $1,499 plan requires an annual commitment, which makes it a $17,988 decision on our arithmetic before any seats beyond the three it includes.

Ahrefs Free and the $29 Starter plan

Ahrefs Free (Ahrefs Webmaster Tools) gives site owners free limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit for sites they can verify. It is good for checking your own backlinks and technical health. It does nothing for researching a competitor.

Starter at $29 is pitched as a way to "see what people search and spy on competitors". Its limits are not on the pricing page, so ask before you rely on it for regular work.

There is no free trial. The Ahrefs FAQ says it never runs discounts and points people to the free tier instead.

Which Ahrefs plan to buy

A freelancer or one-person in-house team: Lite at $129, if a thousand credits a month covers your research. Upgrade only when you hit the cap twice.

Two or three people doing regular content and link work: Standard at $249 plus seats. Content Explorer and the unlimited credits are why.

An agency with more than 20 client sites: Advanced, because Standard stops at 20 projects.

Spending less on the same job

The Ahrefs alternatives page compares the full-suite options. Three cheaper routes:

If the job is noticing what rivals change rather than researching links, Figo is $49 a month for three competitors and sends a Monday email on their new pages, ads, rankings and reviews. Ours, so judge accordingly. It has no backlink data or keyword difficulty, so it sits beside Ahrefs, not in place of it. Figo vs Ahrefs covers the overlap.

The short version

Ahrefs is worth its price when the link index is the reason you pay. Lite is cheap enough to try for a month. The money goes on seats and overage, so decide who really needs a login and watch the pay-as-you-go line on the first invoice.

Questions people ask

Can I pay for Ahrefs annually?

Yes. The pricing page says paying annually saves up to 17%, but it lists monthly prices only and asks you to contact support to switch to annual billing.

How many users does an Ahrefs plan include?

One on Lite, Standard and Advanced, and from three on Enterprise. Each plan caps how many extra seats you can add, from two more on Lite to unlimited on Enterprise.

Is Ahrefs Webmaster Tools really free?

Yes, for sites you own and can verify. It gives limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit for your own site. It does not open up competitor research.

Does Ahrefs offer discounts?

Its own FAQ says it never runs discounts. Annual billing is the only saving on the page.
