Figo vs Ahrefs for competitor monitoring
Figo vs Ahrefs. Ahrefs is better for backlinks, keyword research and audits. Figo watches named rivals and reports what changed each week. Prices compared.
Ahrefs has the best-known backlink index in SEO, a keyword database people trust and a well-regarded site audit. In our September 2026 count of 48 AI assistant answers about competitor monitoring tools, it was named in 15, more than any tool except Semrush and Visualping.
Figo vs Ahrefs is a research tool against a monitoring tool. You go to Ahrefs with a question and it answers almost anything about a site's search presence. Figo checks the competitors you name once a week and comes to you on Monday with what changed: ads on Google, Meta and TikTok, new and edited pages, prices, rankings, social posts and reviews. If SEO is your job, Ahrefs is the better product and this page will not argue otherwise.
Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 4 October 2026.

What Ahrefs does better
Most things to do with search. Be clear about that before anything else.
Backlinks. Referring domains, anchor text, new and lost links, and links your rivals have that you do not. Figo has no link data. If link building is part of your work, see competitor backlink analysis and keep Ahrefs.
Keyword research. Volumes, difficulty, parent topics and SERP history. Figo shows which keywords a competitor ranks for and which they gained or lost, which is a much narrower job.
Your own site. Site audit, rank tracking (750 keywords on Lite, updated weekly) and Ahrefs Free, which gives site owners limited Site Explorer and Site Audit access at no cost. Figo tracks your own site only to put your numbers next to your competitors'.
Depth and history. Over ten years of data in Site Explorer, plus Content Explorer from the Standard plan up. Figo shows a 12 month trend of estimated search traffic and records changes from the day you add a competitor.
Mentions across the web. Ahrefs Alerts can notify you when a brand is mentioned on a web page. Figo does not catch news or blog mentions of anyone.
AI search. Ahrefs sells Brand Radar, from $199 a month as an add-on, to see how brands show up in AI answers. Figo does not track AI answers.
What Figo does that Ahrefs does not
Meta and TikTok ads. Ahrefs covers Google search ads. Figo also reads the Meta and TikTok ad libraries and shows each creative with the page it lands on, along with the date it was first seen.
Page edits and pricing. Figo reads a competitor's homepage, pricing page and top pages every week and reports what they rewrote, with the before and after wording. A pricing page becomes plans and prices, so a change reads like "Growth went from $79 to $99 a month".
Reviews and social. Google rating, review count and star spread, Trustpilot, Instagram and Facebook posts, and Reddit threads about each competitor.
A written answer. The Monday briefing says what changed, links the evidence and ends with one thing to do. Ask Figo, the built-in chat, answers follow-up questions about your tracked competitors, 30 a day on Starter. See a sample briefing.
What a team of three pays
| Ahrefs Lite | Ahrefs Standard | Figo Growth | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Base price, monthly | $129 | $249 | $99 |
| Two extra users | $80 ($40 each) | $120 ($60 each) | None; the briefing goes to email and Slack |
| Total a month | $209 | $369 | $99 |
| What you get | Research, 1,000 credits per user | Research, Content Explorer | 8 competitors watched, Monday briefing |
Ahrefs says annual billing saves up to 17%. Figo bills monthly only. The totals are not like for like: the Ahrefs columns buy a research tool and the Figo column buys a weekly watch. The useful comparison is what your team actually opens Ahrefs to do. If most seats exist so people can check what a competitor did this month, one Ahrefs licence for whoever does the SEO plus a Figo plan is often cheaper and better read. Figo pricing has the full plan list.
Pick Ahrefs, Figo or both
Pick Ahrefs if you do SEO for a living, you build links, you audit sites or you need keyword research. Nothing on this page replaces it.
Pick Figo if you want to know each week what named competitors did across ads, pages, prices, search, social and reviews, and you would rather read one email than run reports.
Do not pick Figo if you need backlinks, keyword research, site audits, rank tracking for your own keywords or web mention alerts. Figo does none of those.
Use both if you are an agency: Ahrefs for the SEO work, Figo for a Monday briefing per client. Ahrefs alternatives and Ahrefs pricing cover the bill in more detail.
Where Figo's search numbers come from
Figo's rankings and estimated traffic come from Google search index data queried for the country set on your workspace, refreshed weekly. They are estimates, like Ahrefs' traffic figures, and the data methodology page marks which numbers are measured and which are modelled.
Questions people ask
Does Figo show backlinks?
No. Figo has no backlink data at all. For a competitor's referring domains or new and lost links you need Ahrefs or another link index.
Do Ahrefs Alerts do the same job as Figo?
Partly. Ahrefs Alerts cover new and lost backlinks, web mentions of a brand and notable keyword ranking changes. They do not cover Meta or TikTok ads, page edits, pricing pages or reviews, which is most of what a Figo briefing reports.
Is there a free trial of Ahrefs?
No. Its pricing page says Ahrefs never runs discounts and points instead to Ahrefs Free, which gives site owners limited access to Site Explorer and Site Audit. Figo's trial is 7 days of Starter with no card.
Which is cheaper for an agency?
For watching clients' competitors, Figo, where $249 a month covers 20 competitors across 5 client workspaces. For SEO delivery work you need Ahrefs whatever else you buy, and Standard at $249 a month plus $60 per extra user is the usual agency starting point.
