Visualping vs Distill: which page monitor to use

Visualping vs Distill compared on price, checks per month, check frequency, local monitoring, alerts and team seats, with today's plans and who should pick which.

Visualping vs Distill comes down to convenience against control. Visualping is the easier tool for most people: it compares screenshots, text or code, its AI flags whether a change looks important, and its Business plans include 5 to 11 users. Distill gives far more checks for the money, lets you choose exactly which part of a page to watch, and can run monitors locally in your own browser, including on pages behind a login. If you are technical or watching many pages cheaply, choose Distill. If a team needs something everyone will actually use, choose Visualping.

Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 4 October 2026.

Price per check is not close

Say you want to watch 40 competitor pages once a day. That is about 1,200 checks a month.

  • Distill Starter covers it at $15 a month ($12 billed annually), with room for 10 more pages and checks to spare.
  • Visualping needs Personal 10K at $70 a month ($50 billed annually), because Personal 1K stops at 10 pages and Personal 5K at 20.

The gap holds at volume. Distill Professional allows 100,000 checks a month for $35. Visualping's largest Business plan allows 50,000 for $350, though that price includes 11 users.

Where Visualping wins

Ease. Visual comparison shows what moved on the page without you defining anything first, and it can compare the text or code instead when a screenshot is too noisy.

AI triage. Cookie banners, rotating testimonials and dates are the usual cause of pointless alerts on any page monitor. Visualping's answer is an AI check that tells you whether a change is important, plus AI summaries in reports.

Teams without seat maths. Business plans include 5 to 11 users with no per-seat charge. On Distill, shared watchlists need its Enterprise plan.

A real trial. 14 days of Business features with no card on file, and monitoring simply stops when it ends.

Integrations. Google Sheets, webhooks and an API alongside Slack and Teams.

Where Distill wins

Volume per dollar, as above.

Precision. You select the part of the page to track and set conditions for when to alert, so a price box can be watched without the rest of the page firing alerts. That is the cleanest fix for noisy pages.

Local monitoring. Local monitors run on your own device through the browser extension (Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Edge) or the desktop app, so they can watch pages you are logged into, plus PDFs. The catch: they only run while the browser or app is open. Cloud monitors run when your machine is off.

Usage pricing for heavy users. Flexi starts at $80 a month and bills extra usage at 20 monitors or 4,000 checks per $1.

Visualping vs Distill: pick one

Pick Visualping if several people need access, you want AI to filter trivial changes, and you would rather pay more than configure page elements.

Pick Distill if you are comfortable choosing elements and conditions, need lots of checks cheaply, or want to watch logged-in pages from your own browser.

When neither is the right tool

Both watch the URLs you give them. Neither notices a page a competitor adds tomorrow, a new ad campaign or a jump in reviews. If you are watching competitors rather than pages, how to track competitor website changes shows a routine that also catches new pages, and the website change monitoring roundup compares more tools, including other Distill alternatives.

For knowing what named competitors changed each week, Figo reads their sitemaps for new and changed pages, pulls plans and prices from their pricing page, and adds their ads and reviews, all in a Monday briefing from $49 a month. Ours, so judge accordingly. It runs once a week, so it is the wrong tool for anything that needs alerts within the hour, or for pages that are not competitors'. Figo vs Visualping goes into the detail.

Questions people ask

Is Distill free?

Yes, with limits. The free plan gives 25 monitors, of which 5 can run in Distill's cloud, with 1,000 cloud checks a month at most every 6 hours and 30 email alerts. Local monitors run in your browser or the desktop app while it is open.

Which one can watch a page behind a login?

Distill says plainly that it can monitor password protected pages, and its local monitors run inside your own browser. Visualping's homepage does not make that claim, so check with Visualping before you rely on it.

Do I need hourly checks to watch competitors?

Usually not. For competitor pricing and messaging pages, a daily check tells you what changed within a day and uses far fewer checks. Hourly or faster is for stock levels, tenders and ticket releases.

Does Visualping use AI?

Yes. Visualping says its AI tells you whether a change is important and summarises changes in reports. Distill relies on conditions you set to decide what triggers an alert.
