Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs: price, data and limits

Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs on today's prices, data size, plan limits and learning curve, with a plain answer on which suits a small site and which suits SEO work.

Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs comes down to depth against price. Ubersuggest is the cheaper, simpler tool, enough for keyword ideas, a site audit and light competitor checks on one or two small sites. Ahrefs publishes a far bigger keyword and backlink index, tracks more keywords, keeps more history, and costs several times as much once you go past its $29 Starter plan.

If you are a business owner doing your own SEO, start with Ubersuggest. If links, content research or client work are part of the job, Ahrefs is the one to pay for.

Prices below were read from each vendor's own pricing page on 4 October 2026.

Those yearly prices were shown under a "Limited Offer" of five months free, tied to an event countdown, so your renewal may cost more. Plan-by-plan monthly prices were not shown in the view we could read. Every add-on is $5 a month: an extra user, an extra project, 250 more tracked keywords, another competitor domain or 500 more daily searches.

There is also a lifetime option. Lifetime purchases are final and non-refundable, so run the 7 day monthly trial first. The full breakdown is on Ubersuggest pricing.

Lite$12957506 months1,000 per user a month
Standard$249202,0002 yearsUnlimited
Advanced$449505,0005 yearsUnlimited

Enterprise is $1,499 a month with an annual commitment. Ahrefs says annual billing saves "up to 17%" but did not show annual prices. Starter's limits are not on the pricing page; Ahrefs' own post on the Starter plan, linked from that page, says it gives 200 credits a month, cannot have extra users or add-ons, and renews monthly only. Content Explorer starts at Standard. More on Ahrefs pricing.

For three people the gap widens. Ubersuggest Business includes two users and a third is $5 a month. Ahrefs Lite plus two extra users at $40 each comes to $209 a month by our arithmetic.

Where Ahrefs is clearly ahead

Backlinks. Ahrefs describes its index as live backlinks updated every 15 to 30 minutes, with 35.0 trillion external backlink records and 209.5 million domains. Ubersuggest has a backlink checker but publishes no index size. If links matter to you (outreach, auditing a competitor's profile, explaining a sudden ranking jump), Ahrefs is the tool. The competitor backlink analysis guide shows what to do with the list once you have it.

Long-tail and international keywords. 28.7 billion filtered keywords across 217 locations against a 100 million keyword database means Ahrefs returns terms Ubersuggest does not have. Expect the gap to show on niche topics with small volumes and in smaller countries. For a local plumber researching 30 terms, it rarely matters.

Content research. Content Explorer (Standard and up) finds the pages on a topic that earned links and search traffic, a quick way to decide what to write next.

History and scale. Two years of history on Standard and five on Advanced, and up to 5,000 tracked keywords. Ubersuggest's plans top out at 300 tracked keywords per project before add-ons.

Where Ubersuggest is the better buy

Price. Business at $27.17 a month billed annually covers two users and seven projects. That is less than Ahrefs Starter, which allows one user and no add-ons.

Growing one limit at a time. The $5 add-ons let you buy a second project or more keywords without changing plan. On Ahrefs the next step up from Lite is $120 more a month.

A trial. Seven days on monthly plans. Ahrefs offers none.

A gentler learning curve. Ubersuggest is built around a small set of reports with suggestions attached. Ahrefs is a professional tool with many more reports, filters and metrics, which rewards people who know what they are looking for and slows down people who do not.

The limits you hit first

On Ubersuggest Individual: one project, 150 searches a day and five competitor domains. The day you add a second website, you need Business or a $5 project add-on.

On Ahrefs Starter: 200 credits a month and no way to buy more. On Lite: 1,000 credits per user a month, and no Content Explorer. Credits are spent as you open reports, so a heavy research week eats into the month's allowance. Both limits push you toward Standard at $249.

Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs: who should pick which

Pick Ubersuggest if you look after one or two small sites, mainly need keyword ideas, rank tracking and a site audit, and want the bill under $30 a month.

Pick Ahrefs if backlinks, content research or competitor analysis are a weekly job, you work across several countries, or clients pay for the output.

Pick Ahrefs Starter if you want Ahrefs' data for occasional lookups, work alone, and can live with 200 credits a month.

When neither is the right tool

If you only care about your own site, Google Search Console shows your real clicks and queries for free, and Ahrefs Free adds an audit and backlink view for sites you verify. That pair beats a cheap paid plan for many small businesses; free Ahrefs alternatives lists more.

If you are choosing among all-rounders rather than these two, read Ubersuggest vs Semrush and Semrush vs Ahrefs before you decide.

Questions people ask

Is Ubersuggest data as good as Ahrefs data?

Neither tool publishes an accuracy rate for its search volumes, so nobody can answer that with a number. What Ahrefs does publish is a far larger keyword and link index, which shows most on long-tail terms and on the backlinks of smaller sites.

Does Ahrefs have a free trial?

No. Its pricing page FAQ says it never runs discounts and points people to Ahrefs Free instead, which gives limited Site Explorer and Site Audit access for sites you can verify you own.

Can I get a refund on the Ubersuggest lifetime deal?

No. Ubersuggest's pricing page says lifetime purchases are final and non-refundable, so use the one-time 7 day trial on a monthly plan before you commit.

Is Ahrefs worth it for a small business?

Only if someone will open it every week. A business that checks keywords a few times a quarter gets more for its money from Ubersuggest, or from Google Search Console plus Ahrefs Free.
