Reddit ads library: what exists and the workaround
Reddit has no public library of commercial ads yet. What it does offer, what EU law will force from 2027, and how to see a competitor's Reddit ads today.
As of 4 October 2026, Reddit has no public library of commercial ads. There is no Reddit equivalent of the Meta Ad Library where you type a competitor's name and see everything they are running. Anything sold as a Reddit ads library is either a third-party collection or one of three narrower official things.
The Ads Inspiration Library, inside Reddit's ad platform, showcases top-performing ads by industry. r/RedditPoliticalAds discloses US political advertisers. And a real public repository is coming for EU ads, because on 31 August 2026 the European Commission designated Reddit a very large online platform, which carries a legal duty to publish one. Until then, seeing a competitor's Reddit ads takes some legwork, set out below.
What Reddit offers for ad transparency today
| Source | Where | What it shows | Useful for one competitor? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ads Inspiration Library | Inside Reddit Ads, under Creative | Top-performing active ads from the past year, by industry, budget, format and objective | Only if they happen to be featured |
| r/RedditPoliticalAds | A Reddit-run subreddit | Disclosures about US political advertisers | Only for political advertisers |
| EU ad repository | Not live yet | Required for EU ads once Reddit complies, due January 2027 | Later, and for EU ads only |
The Ads Inspiration Library
This is what Reddit's own marketing pages call its Ads Library. Reddit's help article describes it as a showcase of "the most successful active ads from the past year".
Getting in. Reddit says anyone with a Reddit Ads account can view it. Once inside, go to Creative, then Ads Inspiration Library. Reddit's small business page sends visitors to the Reddit Ads sign-up when they click to see ad examples.
Filters. Four, per Reddit's help article:
- Industry, from Retail & eCommerce, Tech B2B and Tech B2C through Financial Services, Health & Beauty and Travel to Politics & Government, 16 in all.
- Budget: Low, Medium or High.
- Format: Image, Video, Carousel or Free-form.
- Objective: Awareness and consideration, Traffic, Sales, or App promotion.
On each ad you can change the placement preview, view details (industry, budget, format, objective and landing page, plus AI-generated notes on the three best practices the ad uses), and copy or view the live link to the original post, comments and votes included.
The limits. Reddit picks what goes in, and advertisers can ask to be left out. A competitor missing from it tells you nothing. It is built for answering "what works on Reddit in my industry", not "what is this company running".
Used that way, it is good. Filter to your industry and the Sales objective, open the live links of the top ads, and read the comments. A Reddit ad's comment thread is a free focus group: you see which claims the community accepts and which ones it picks apart.
Political ads: r/RedditPoliticalAds
Reddit's political advertising policy only allows political ads in the US at the federal level. Advertisers must be certified, work with a Reddit sales representative, take part in an AMA first, carry a "paid for by" disclosure, and have the purchasing individual or organisation disclosed publicly in Reddit's transparency subreddit, r/RedditPoliticalAds. Political ads may not target by postal code or gender.
In the EU, Reddit only allows ads about voter registration and voting when a public authority places them.
That is the full extent of Reddit's public ad disclosure today. Useful if you work in politics or advocacy, irrelevant for watching a commercial rival.
What changes in 2027
The European Commission designated Reddit a very large online platform under the Digital Services Act on 31 August 2026, giving it four months, to January 2027, to meet the extra obligations.
One of them is Article 39 of the Act. A very large platform that shows ads must keep a public, searchable repository of them, for as long as each ad runs and for a year after it last appeared. For each ad it must include the content, the brand or person it was shown for, who paid if different, the period it ran, the main targeting parameters including exclusions, and the total number of people reached with a breakdown by EU country.
That is roughly what Meta and TikTok already publish for European ads, and it is why both keep a year of them. Expect Reddit's to look similar and to cover ads shown in the EU. What it will look like, and whether Reddit extends it beyond the EU, is not known yet. Our ad libraries hub lists every platform library that exists today.
How to see a competitor's Reddit ads today
Until the repository exists, you have to see their ads where their buyers see them.
- Use a dedicated Reddit account. Join the communities your buyers read, and browse logged in from the country you sell in. Reddit says ads appear in the Home, Popular and community feeds, and on conversation pages inside threads.
- Log every competitor ad you meet. Date, the subreddit or thread it appeared in, the headline, the offer and the landing page. A screenshot is enough.
- Open the post itself. A Reddit ad is a post. Where comments are open, the replies under a competitor's ad are the most honest feedback on their positioning you will find anywhere.
- Check the Ads Inspiration Library by industry each month, in case they appear.
- Watch their organic presence too. Reddit's free Reddit Pro tools let a business track keywords, and threads that mention a competitor often reveal more than their ads do. Our Reddit monitoring guide covers the free way to do it.
What a Reddit ad tells you about targeting
Reddit's targeting options explain why placement is a clue. Advertisers can target specific communities or people who engage with them, interests, keywords in conversations, locations down to ZIP codes and US media markets, devices, and custom audiences such as pixel retargeting and customer lists.
So read your log like this, remembering these are inferences:
- The same ad across several related communities suggests community or interest targeting around that topic.
- An ad inside a thread about one specific problem suggests keyword targeting on that problem.
- Their ads following you everywhere after you visited their site is retargeting.
A hypothetical example. Say you sell bookkeeping software to freelancers. Over a month you log a rival's ad four times, each in threads about chasing late invoices, never in general small business feeds. They are buying a problem, not an audience, and late payment is the problem they think sells. That is worth a landing page of your own.
Where Figo fits
Figo does not track Reddit ads. It does check Reddit once a week for threads that mention the competitors you track, with a language model filtering out threads that are not really about them, and it reads their Google, Meta and TikTok ads from those platforms' libraries. If Reddit ads specifically are what you need to watch, the manual log above is the only reliable method until the EU repository arrives. For tools that watch Reddit conversation, see the Reddit monitoring tools roundup, and for the platforms that do publish every ad, start with how to see every ad a competitor is running.
Questions people ask
Can I see how much a competitor spends on Reddit ads?
No. Reddit publishes no spend figures for commercial ads. The nearest thing is the budget band of low, medium or high that the Ads Inspiration Library shows for the ads it features.
Will Reddit's EU ad repository show ads that ran in the US?
Do not count on it. The obligation comes from EU law, and the repositories other platforms built under it, such as TikTok's, only cover ads shown in Europe.
Can an advertiser keep its ads out of the Ads Inspiration Library?
Yes. Reddit's help centre says advertisers who want their ads excluded can contact Reddit support to have them removed from the showcase.
Are third-party Reddit ad libraries reliable?
Treat them as samples. Reddit publishes no public feed of all ads, so any third-party collection is built from whatever its makers could gather, and none can promise a given competitor is in it.
